1952 Pontiac Chieftain Hearse
The hearse/ambulance has been in storage since the early 1980’s from what I was told. My understanding is that it was used as an ambulance in a nearby town before being purchased locally by a collector, which is where I purchased it, after he passed away.
The car is believed to have the original in-line 8 cylinder flathead engine and manual transmission. The odometer shows 65,000 miles, believed to be correct. The car does have some rust below the doors and in the very rear of the car, but the underneath was undercoated and appears to be in good condition. The car does not run. It was built by Barnette & Co. which built Pontiac and Chevrolet hearses from 1947 – 1955.
The car is very complete, I don’t believe any trim pieces are missing. The Chieftan emblem is there, and the seats in the back are operational.
